A beautiful smile symbolizes health and beauty. We might not always realize that many of our complexes are caused by not properly aligned teeth or face deformed by defective occlusion. Modern orthodontics helps handle such problems. Now the orthodontist has a wide range of fixed and removable appliances, with which it is possible to choose the best treatment for every patient.
Early detected and treated defect in tooth position may prevent future problems with decay or gum illnesses. Unquestionably, there are a great deal more possibilities when treating children (we may affect the growth of jaw bones) and this is why consulting an orthodontist at the right time is crucial not to miss the best moment for treatment. When contacting orthodontists children learn how to systematically and regularly care for their health and hygiene of their teeth.
Adults may also improve the alignment of their teeth, and if the metal look of the brackets is a problem, fixed cosmetic appliances may be used as an alternative.
Frequently, orthodontists' patients are also elderly people for whom prosthetic treatment had been planned. The apparatus moves their teeth to make prosthetic appliances last long years in a stable manner.
Orthodontic consultation will allow the right planning of dental treatment for children, adults and elderly patients. Great results are achieved when the patient is taken care of and treated - like in our clinics - by a team of various specialists. Then each component of dental health is taken into account: the right occlusion, decay protection, caring for gums and nice, properly produced prosthetic appliances.
Below you may see a schedule of orthodontic visits and basic information about our orthodontic procedures.
First visit to the orthodontist is a consultation. The patient should bring an orthopantomogram and an x-ray of head side view. During that visit the patient presents his/her needs and desires. If the objective is a beautiful smile, we make an imprint to prepare diagnostic models which the orthodontist will use when planning the treatment.
Second visit is the time for discussing the treatment plan. The doctor presents the patient with a recommended way of treatment and explains what it will involve. If there are any alternative methods, the patient will be presented them and may decide which method should be applied.
Third visit is the one during which the patient receives the orthodontic apparatus (removable or fixed - glued to teeth), is instructed on how to use it and how to care for dental hygiene.
Fixed apparatus, or "brackets" are now the most popular of all orthodontic apparatuses worn by patients. We successfully use this method of treatment both with adults and children.
Fixed cosmetic apparatus apparatus is an alternative to those patients who would not feel comfortable with metal brackets visible when talking or smiling. In this type of appliance metal was replaced with tooth-colour brackets.
Fixed cosmetic apparatus - INSPIRE crystal brackets are a cosmetic and elegant fixed apparatus with brackets made of crystal-clear sapphire, which is hardly visible. Made of transparent sapphire crystals the brackets are transparent, which is the reason why they became one of the most popular aesthetic choices in dental treatment.
Removable apparatus apparatus is recommended mainly for children whose bone growing process has not yet ended and the bite alignment may still be shaped using an apparatus and the strength of children's own muscles.
